Where has all my free time gone???
I know I started this blog about a month ago and have only written one post. What can I say, married life is busier than I thought. It was easier to blog while wedding planning than to blog while wed.
I will summarize some of my becoming Wilson activities in order to catch you up on my life.
Fall Break - Glenn and I went on our first "vacation" since the honeymoon. One of the advantages to teaching in Alabama is fall break! I love the fall and was excited about the break from school and the opportunity to soak up the fall colors. We went to Big Ridge State Park outside Knoxville, TN. Here are some of the beautiful vistas.

Glenn's dog "Little Man" got to go camping for the first time on this trip. He really is a great camping dog. Loved hiking and loved cuddling to keep us warm on the cold nights. We were some of the only tent campers at the campground. One morning the RV campers told us that they were really scared that we might have frozen during the night. People really do underestimate the warmth of a good sleeping bag and dog.
Also during the visit we had the opportunity to visit with my sister and brother-in-law. Wonderful vacation!

Halloween 2011
For Halloween, I shopped for the perfect pumpkin. Glenn and I Googled pumpkin carving patterns and tried to come up with a great Wilson pumpkin. On Halloween night, I piled my bowl high with candy and waited eagerly for the trick or treaters. Glenn warned me that no one would come down the long drive to our house. I was truly disappointed. When we stepped out onto our porch we could see all the cars and hear the children. I asked Glenn if he would drive me in the truck to the end of the drive so I could give out candy. After he looked at me thinking "really?" , we gathered up the jack-o-lantern, the candy, and sat on the tailgate at the end of the drive. Parents drove their kids to our truck and we handed out our bowl of candy. Fun!!

Becoming Wilson
Several years back, I think it was 2007, several Jane Austen movies came out. I love Jane Austen. I have read pretty much all of her books even though it takes a while for me to make it through the complicated language. My favorite is Persuasion written in 1818. In Jane Austen, love always conquers great odds. The girl always gets the guy, even though sometimes the guy is not the one she was interested in for most of the book. Anyway, I am getting a little off track. Back in 2007, the movie Becoming Jane came out. I, being the devoted Jane Austen Fan, watched this movie with much enthusiasm. This movie showed how Jane Austen became the writer she is, what inspired her stories. So, playing off the title of that movie, this blog will be the "becoming" of Mrs. Wilson. Having been Laura Breland for some 34 years of my life, becoming Laura Wilson has been an adventure so far. I am some 120 days into this journey and loving every minute of it. I still do however think of myself as Laura Breland. So as I become who I will be for the rest of my life, I will share with you.
As always, I must go ahead and apologize for any horrible grammatical or spelling errors in this blog. I will try to get my husband to proofread for me : )
Until next time,
Mrs. Wilson
